Daily Journal 2024
We were at Tres Rios for part of the winter and on January 11 left Tres and headed to Houston to spend some time with our grandchildren, and to celebrate Josh's birthday. The weather in Glen Rose was hitting single digits an it was even in the 20's down in Houston. We were having issues with our furnace running, so I installed a new burner along with the help of our neighbors.
We then headed south to Lazy Palms Resort in Edinburg, Texas. There were about five other families from Tres that are going down as well. We are going there because Grady, who used to work at Tres, lives down there now and wanted us all to come visit. During our stay there we visited the La Sal del Rey, a salt lake in the middle of nowhere.
We stayed for two months before heading back to Tres Rios. On our way back north we stopped at the Thousand Trails in Lake Medina, where we visited the Bandera Natural History Museum. Heading north again, we stopped in Marble Falls and I found an out of the way place to visit called Dead Man's Hole Historical Landmark.
During one of our week's out at Whitney we looked at a place that was for sale. Nice place with two metal coverings, one for the RV and one for living, along with a "shed" that housed a small living area with full bath and the other half a laundry room. We made an offer on it, he countered, and then we countered again and our offer was accepted. Now we are owners of a permanent place to live at Whitney Resorts in Whitney, Texas.
Spent the rest of the year at Whitney hiring two friends to "finish" the inside of both sections. Also stayed because we were dealing with Jim's prostate cancer and his treatment, which started at the end of October. We stayed at a COE at Benbrook just outside of Fort Worth during this treatment. I did a blog on Jim's Prostate Cancer and Alternative Cancer Treatments. We actually went to visit the Texas Civil War Museum while there because it the last day this museum was going to be open. It closed its doors on October 31.
We went to Houston for Thanksgiving and then again for Christmas where we stayed for three weeks. In January 2025, we plan on heading to southwest Texas.
