Daily Journal 2026
We headed out again on January 2 on our way to Florida, this time because we have a new grandson and wanted to meet him. We arrived in Ruskin, Florida at Sun Lake RV Park on January 20, where we stayed for the month, until February 19. We had a good time in Ruskin, and I was able to babysit my new grandson while our daughter worked.
From Sun Lake we drove to Robinson Ranch in Dunnellon, with a side trip to Lakeland to have a new valve stem put in one of the RV tires. The Tin Can Tourists rally was at Robinson Ranch; we have not been to a rally since the 100th anniversary in 2019.
From the Tin Can Tourists rally we drove to Southern Palms, a Thousand Trails Encore Resort in Eustis where we spent two weeks. While there, I had made reservations to visit the Ma Barker House, which was quite interesting. When we left Southern Palms, we headed to Sebastian, Florida to Bill & Julie's house. We were going there because Jim's brother and his wife, along with our son and his family were going to be there at the same time. We stayed in our RV in their back yard, Jack & Tam'ra stayed in their Airstream, and our son and family stayed in their house.
From Sebastian, we drove to the Orlando Thousand Trails in Clermont, Florida for a week and a half. We did not do anything while there as we don't like to drive around the area too much because there is just so many people and so much traffic. After leaving Orlando on March 22, we drove back to Ruskin to E.G. Simmons County Park to visit with our daughter and hubby, and of course, to see our grandson some more. While here in Ruskin we went to visit the Mulberry Phosphate Museum.
We left Florida at the end of March and headed northeast into Georgia; first stop in Savannah to visit old friends of our son's Jake & Robyn Forbes. We stayed at Savannah Lakes, a very large campground in Hardeeville, South Carolina. While in the area we visited Fort Frederica National Monument, Tybee Island Lighthouse, and Fort Pulaski National Monument. From there we traveled inland to Dublin where we stayed at Honeysuckle Farm RV Park, and stopped to visit the Vidalia Onion Museum in Vidalia, Georgia. I'm sure everyone has heard of and eaten Vidalia onions. They are grown exclusively in this part of Georgia and shipped all over the world. We went north from there and stopped at Little River RV Park in Milledgeville to visit the Uncle Remus Museum in Eatonton.
From there we headed to Old Federal COE in Flowery Branch, Georgia. We are here to visit friends and family.
