Daily Journal -- The Early Years
This section starts our full time adventure in 2012 through 2019. I'm trying to consolidate so the Journal itself is not so long. When we began our full time adventure back in May 2012, I started a daily journal of our adventures. That year we were in Minnesota for our first workamping job, which I wrote about in my Daily Journal 2012.
In 2013 we were in Townsend, Tennessee for our second workamping job. We also worked at Amazon.com in 2012 and 2013, which you can read in my Daily Journal 2013.
During 2014 I did not write as much as I should have. That year was the beginning of our trials and tribulations as Activity Directors at the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in Waller, Texas, as well as family matters. Gayle's father got very ill and went into hospice, and we traveled to Ohio in June to see him before he passed. We stayed up there for close to a month before heading back to Jellystone, but I wrote about everything in my Daily Journal 2014.
We worked at Yogi Bear Jellystone until June of 2015 and then decided to continue our traveling adventure. But that was cut short in July when Jacklyn called to tell us she had ovarian cancer and needed us in Florida. It took us a week to travel from Capitan, New Mexico to Ruskin, Florida. We stayed in Florida until November when Jacklyn finished her chemo, and then headed back west. I wrote about everything in my Daily Journal 2015.
In 2016 we headed down to the Rio Grande Valley, then west through New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California before heading back to Texas, which you can read in my Daily Journal 2016.
In 2017 we were in Florida and then headed northwest to West Yellowstone for another workamping job. They ended up letting us go in June so we decided to travel through Montana, Washington and Oregon before heading back to Texas, which you can read in my Daily Journal 2017.
In 2018 we took another trip to the northwest through Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. That trip was also cut short when my brother called to let me know his wife at 59 years old passed in her sleep. We drove from Wyoming to Colorado where we were able to stay at a Coast-to-Coast park at no charge for two weeks. I flew to Ohio to help him out, then flew back to Colorado before we headed back to Texas. You can read about our travels in my Daily Journal 2018.
We did a lot more traveling in 2019, beginning in Texas, then heading to Florida for most of the winter. We then slowly made our way up the east coast through North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania on our way to Maine (to visit with Bill & Julie at China Lake). We then went back through Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and on to Texas. You can read about our trip in my Daily Journal 2019.
