Whitney Resorts, Whitney, Texas

This picture is one that I took while on my morning walk with my dog Lucy on the defunct golf course that Whitney has turned into walking trails. There are four ponds with fish, turtles and even a beaver. Deer wander all over as well as squirrels and roadrunners. Whitney Resorts is part of the Coast to Coast RV system where many of our friends who are full timers, but do not travel, move between Tres Rios RV Resort in Glen Rose to Whitney Resorts for their week out.

During 2024 while Jim and I were there for our week out, we noticed a small place with a cover that was almost sitting by itself as there were no homes in front or behind it; on a dead end street with the woods out front. It had a small cottage with two rooms -- one side had a living room and full bath and the other side was a laundry room. Jim was going through prostate cancer therapy and we thought this would be a convenient place to be able to stay without having to move every three weeks, so we bought the place. It was not anything we had planned to do ~~ spur of the moment idea ~~ but it turned out to be a blessing.

Whitney Resorts is a 55 and older community. They do offer regular camping for families, as well as renting covered spaces or purchasing covered spaces that may or may not have a house along with it for the 55 and older crowd. They offer lots of activities, from cards to corn hole, golf cart parades, dances with music and food, and a newly refurbished the swimming pool. The bath house is also newly refurbished and they have a nice, large two section dog park with dog wash tub.

The lease on the covered structures range from $500 per month to $650 per month. The price does not include electricity. All of the covers are structurally engineered and will add to the protection and comfort of your RV. If you are interested in talking about a lease or purchase, please call Kathleen McCrory at (254) 694-4023.
