We traveled through Alabama on our way from Texas to the east. Our home base for Ocean Canyon Properties is in Robertsdale, Alabama at Styx River RV Resort. We have not done much sightseeing in Alabama though, but what we have seen is listed below.  The above picture was taken from Bamahenge & Other Oddities.

USS Alabama Battleship (Mobile) ~~ February 12, 2013

We traveled through Alabama again in 2016 on our way to Florida and found Bamahenge on Roadside America.  Just another oddity that we had to check out, that I had to get pictures of. We were staying at Styx River when we visited the USS Alabama and Bamahenge.

Bamahenge & Other Oddities (Elberta) ~~ December 8, 2016

We traveled into Alabama again in 2017 staying at another OCR Resort -- Mountain Lakes in Langston, where we visited Russell Cave and Crooked Creek, and then moving on to Hidden Cove Thousand Trails in Arley where we visited Ave Maria Grotto and Dismal's Canyon.

Russell Cave National Monument (Bridgeport) ~~ March 15, 2017

Crooked Creek Civil War Museum (Vinemont) ~~ March 22, 2017
Ave Maria Grotto (Cullman) ~~ March 23, 2017
Dismal's Canyon (Phil Campbell) ~~ March 23, 2017

We headed east again in 2022 and stopped at Styx River for two weeks. The only downside to being here is that to see anything it is a 25-35 mile drive just to get there. We did get to two places to visit. We drove down to Pensacola on Tuesday but did not visit anything. We drove to Orange Beach on Thursday, which was a 33 mile one way trip to visit the Orange Beach Indian & Sea Museum.

Orange Beach Indian & Sea Museum (Orange Beach) ~~ November 10, 2022
Uncle Sandy's Macaw Bird Park (Pensacola) ~~ November 11, 2022

We made a trip to Florida in January 2026 where we stayed until the end of March. From Florida we drove north to Georgia to visit friends and family and then headed west to Alabama toward home.
