Daily Journal 2020
So far this year, we are not going to travel for any length of time. The whole world was invaded by an insidious virus called Covid-19, which originated in China this past December. We were already at Tres Rios in Glen Rose, Texas since October 2019.
We did spend Christmas 2019 with our family in Houston and from there we went back to Tres Rios until the end of February and then decided to take a trip to Lake Texoma Thousand Trails for a week before heading back to Tres Rios. While we were at Lake Texoma we took a trip into Oklahoma; there was one museum I wanted to go to, but it was closed so we ended up at the Greater Southwest Historical Museum.
Now we are heading into April and are stuck in Texas with vacation plans on hold. I did decide to do a blog on the May 4, 1970 incident at Kent State which I posted here in 2020.
So, between the virus and us needing to see doctors in May, we will probably just take a short vacation once this pandemic passes. In September we decided to go to Amarillo for a couple of weeks. Went to visit a few sites and even met up with old friends who we met while workamping at Jellystone Park in Waller back in 2014. There are a some really nice places around Amarillo to visit. The first stop was the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument. They were still doing tours and there was a good number of people who were there. We went to the Texas Air & Space Museum, Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Cross of Our Lord Jesus, and Cadillac Ranch.
In November we went toward Houston taking the northern route and stopped in Willis, Texas, which is north of Houston off of I-45. We visited the Texas Prison Museum in Huntsville. From there we went to Jetstream RV Park for Thanksgiving for the week. Karen's brother and sister-in-law (Steve & Patty) flew in from Arizona for the weekend to join us.
In December we went back to Houston for Christmas, and stayed two weeks taking us into January. Karen's father drove down from North Carolina and will be staying in Houston for about a month visiting with her, and then flying to Arizona to visit with Steve & Patty.
We always enjoy our visits in Houston because we get to see our grandchildren. Josh even bought me an i-Pad for Christmas so I can keep in touch with Ellie while we travel. This was the first year that I did a Blog called Our Travels during 2020.
