Daily Journal 2013
When we left Tremont Outdoor Resorts at the end of 2012, we stopped in Stone Mountain, Georgia for a few weeks before heading south again. Our daughter Jacklyn and her husband Joe were living in our house in Stone Mountain, so we wanted to visit with them for a while before heading south. From Georgia we headed to Texas to spend some time with Josh, Karen and our grandchildren in Houston. We also did some sightseeing while in Texas and on our way to Florida, which posts can be found in the monthly posts.
While in Texas during January we visited the Kemah Boardwalk with Josh & Karen; then drove down to Galveston to visit the Ocean Star Drilling Museum and the Galveston Railroad Museum.
During that stay we decided to change our domicile from Georgia to Texas. So we headed to Livingston, Texas to take care of that. We had quite a time trying to become Texas residents. You can read our story about what we did here.
After we changed our domicile we headed to Florida, stopping at the two OCP resorts in Louisiana and Alabama. While in Alabama we met up with our friend Lavon and visited the USS Alabama Battleship. Continuing on our way to Florida, we stopped at the Man in the Sea Museum in Panama City Beach, and then to Brooksville, Florida to attend the Tin Can Tourists Rally in February.
At the end of February we started our travels up to Tennessee, where we were going to workamp at Tremont Outdoor Resort from March to October. We were also going to work at Amazon again from November to December. Since we were so close to Smoky Mountains National Park while working at Tremont, we made sure to visit the park. Our first stop was at Cades Cove, Newfound Cap & Clingman's Dome, which can also be found in the USA-East under National Parks/Monuments. We also visited the Tail of the Dragon. Tremont was an interesting RV park, set along a small creek and a dead end road where people still lived. There was also a trail up the mountain behind the resort, and rental cabins as well.
After leaving Tremont, we made our way back to Campbellsville, Kentucky for another winter at Amazon. We made one side trip to Fort Knox, Kentucky to visit the General George Patton Museum.
