DAILY JOURNAL 2021
After spending Christmas 2020 with Josh and family, on January 3, 2021, we headed east to Florida stopping along the way to visit friends. We wanted to get to Florida to attend the Tin Can Tourists Rally at the end of February. We made our normal stops at the two Ocean Canyon Resorts in Abita Springs, Louisiana and Robertsdale, Alabama. We also made an extra stop at Wolf River Resort to visit a friend we met here at Tres Rios one year. We got to Orlando Thousand Trails in February and stayed for two weeks before heading to Brooksville for the TCT Rally. It just so happened that the powers that be decided to cancel the TCT Rally, but we and some friends went anyway.
While staying in Brooksville, we visited Boyett's Grove & Citrus Attraction. He has a house full of trinkets to buy and a huge lot with different types of animals. After leaving Florida we headed north into Georgia and stopped at the COE on Lake Lanier to visit with Jim's brother and his wife. We made it to one place while there ~~ the Botanical Gardens in Gainesville.
From there were headed northeast into North Carolina. The last time we were in Spencer we visited the doll museum, but Jim really wanted to see the N.C. Transportation Museum, so that was our stop this time. We also visited Andy Griffith's Museum in Mt. Airy, where he is from.
From here we headed inland to Crossville, Tennessee. While there we visited the Cumberland Homesteads & Tower Museum and the Military Memorial Museum.
We then headed north to Kentucky and made a stop at Mammoth Cave Thousand Trails. Here we went to see the Mammoth Cave Wildlife Museum in Cave City. We headed west to Kansas from there. We were able to visit a Shrine that was way out of in the country called St. Philippine Duchesne Memorial Park & Shrine in Centerville, Kansas. We then went into Oklahoma where we visited the Eastern Trails Museum before heading back into Texas, stopping at an RV Park near Palestine.
In Palestine we took a train ride on the Texas State Railroad through the countryside. The RV Park we stayed at was very interesting itself, so I did a blog post on it. Called Salmon Lake Park, they had lots of buildings and trails, along with a spring fed lake where people went swimming. We were on our way back to Houston and stopped in northern Houston before heading to Jetstream RV Park. In north Houston we visited the Sam Houston Museum & Statute, which also had a special exhibit on the Women's Suffrage Movement in Texas.
After our visit in Houston we headed back to Tres Rios, and then to Whitney Resorts where we spend our week out. While in Whitney, we visited a really neat museum in Hillsboro called Roadside America Museum.
I did another Blog post entitled Our Travels during 2021. I also did another blog post about all the pets that we had in our lives. This was prompted by my nephew's question asking how many pets we have had. This Blog post is called A Tribute to our Pets.
