In 2021 we were heading back to Texas traveling east straight from Kentucky with a stop in Kansas for a couple of days before heading south.

St. Philippine Duchesne Memorial Park ~~ June 15, 2021

As we traveled south from Iowa into Kansas, we stopped at a mobile home & RV Park in Pittsburg. We stayed there a couple of days and decided to go to the local miner's museum to see what kind of mining was in Kansas during the 1900s. The above picture is a mural painted on the side of a building depicting
the beginning of a miner's day as they rode the coal cars down into the mines. The last view they had of the day was the beautiful countryside before being lowered into the depths of the mines into total darkness lit only by their carbide lamps.

Miners Hall Museum ~~ September 23, 2023

We headed back into Kansas during our summer vacation of 2025. Our first stop was in Liberal, then Dodge City, and Oakley. There were some museums that I wanted to see on this trip, especially in Dodge City, home to the gunmen of the West. In Oakley we learned more of the history of Buffalo Bill Cody.
